Now operated by Meeting House Lane Medical Practice.

EAST HAMPTON SATELLITE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Full-Service Emergency Center at 400 Pantigo Place

The East Hampton Healthcare Foundation collaborated closely with the Town of East Hampton, and Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and its related agencies, in the planning and fundraising for the construction of the new 22,000 square- foot Stony Brook Medicine East Hampton Emergency Department, located adjacent to the Healthcare Center on Pantigo Place. Slated to open some time in 2024, this vital new full-service facility will greatly improve access to emergency healthcare services, shorten critical emergency care transport time, and offer non-emergency services, including advanced imaging services (CT and MRI).

OUR COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE PROGRAMS & INITIATIVES

The East Hampton Healthcare Foundation annually provides substantial funding for healthcare services benefitting the residents of the Town of East Hampton.

Pediatric and Adult Primary Care Services | The Foundation annually underwrites a portion of the cost of primary health services for more than 1,600 uninsured and underinsured East Hampton Town residents. These services are provided by several dedicated physicians at the Healthcare Center and East Hampton Urgent Care.

Pediatric and Adult Mental Health Services | The Foundation helped fund a pilot program, developed by Dr. Gail Schonfeld of the Healthcare Center’s East End Pediatrics practice, to identify and treat young people and their families before the advent of crises and to provide access to ongoing mental health treatment. This program has continued thanks to the generosity of individuals and community organizations, including the Foundation. Additionally, the Foundation funds two mental health providers (one of whom is bilingual) in Dr. George Dempsey’s Family Medicine practice at the Healthcare Center.

Emergency Prescription Program | Dispensed at Park Place Chemists, the Healthcare Center’s on-site pharmacy, the Foundation’s Emergency Prescription Program provides up to three months of prescription medications to residents who are unable to pay.

Bilingual Social Worker/Patient Advocate | The Foundation established a Benefits Counseling Office at the Healthcare Center to ensure that all patients have timely access to medical care, regardless of their ability to pay. Staffed by a bilingual counselor, local residents can receive assistance with health insurance, medical billing issues, financial aid applications, and other health-related matters. Over the years, these free counseling services have benefited thousands of local residents.

Free Community Health Fairs | Through our annual free health fairs, the Foundation facilitates the coordination of health services from existing community resources, for the benefit of the entire community. Attendees participate in health screenings, make appointments for no-cost mammogram and pap tests, and meet with health insurance and other assistance program representatives. Co-sponsored with Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, thousands in our community have benefited.

Educational Symposiums | The Foundation has presented educational symposiums for healthcare providers and community residents on a wide variety of health topics, including preventative care, child and adolescent mental health, cardiovascular health, cancer treatment, and the future of healthcare on the South Fork.

Student Scholarship Program | Launched in 2023, the Foundation’s Healthcare Education Scholarship Program awards $2,500 per year to a graduating senior in the Town of East Hampton who will be pursuing a healthcare education at a two- year technical school or college. Special consideration is given to students committing to work in East Hampton Town in the healthcare field after graduation.

Community Healthcare Grants | Our healthcare grant program has helped to fund local non-profit organizations that contribute to achieving the Foundation’s goal of improving healthcare, providing preventative health services, and presenting educational programs in our community.

Community Room | The East Hampton Healthcare Center’s conference room is available free of charge to all community health-related organizations in the Town for meetings, presentations, support groups and more.
